As we approach on Christmas and New Year’s Eve, our suggestions are merely focused on this theme. This week (05/12-11/12) you’ll find many fundraising bazaars especially during the weekend. That doesn’t mean that you won’t find other events such as exhibition not only in Larnaca but in Cyprus overall.

Menorah Lighting

The Jewish Community of Cyprus will hold their annual Menorah Lighting Ceremony with musical programme from Israel and delights (donuts, latkes etc). 

“Larnaka- Past and Present” Walking tour

City: Larnaka

Starting Point: CTO Information Office (Vasileos Pavlou Square)

The sea had a big influence on the development of the City of Larnaca. You’ll find out about it and many more on this walking tour. (Booking in advance is necessary).

Petroushka- Puppet Theatre 

City: Larnaca

Where: Scala Theatre

Admission: €7 adults / €5 children

The performance is part of the international project “Russian Theater Seasons in Cyprus” and comes from the Tula State Puppet Theater in Russia. Petroushka is an avant-garde ballet by Igor Stravinsky. Although in the original play -it was first performed in 1911- humans act as dancing dolls, this play’s approach reverses the roles and the dolls have to act as humans this time.

“Scala- Its Craftsmen” Walk

Τhis walk presents the old town of “Scala” where you will explore Handicraft Workshops, walk through the Turkish neighbourhoods of the city and see traditional white washed houses.

Give a light- Charity Bazaar

Admission: Free

Give a light is an annual Christmas Charity Bazaar by The Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society. The programme includes music, dances, games and the favourite Santa of children, Santa Claus.

 

Cycling Along the Lines- Photography Tour

City: Nicosia

Starting point: Home for Cooperation (Marcou Drakou 28 Street, 1102)

The tour will bike along the lines of the buffer zone and the participants will document their journey.

Once upon a Christmas Time- Christmas Bazaar

City: Larnaca

Where: Apothiki 79, near Saint Lazarus Church

Time: 11:00 am- 7:00 pm

Admission: Free

In this bazaar you will find unique personalized and handmade gifts.

Also there will be sushi (12:00-3:00 pm), face painting (12:00-2:00 pm, 5:00-7:00 pm) and Christmas workshop (12:00-2:00 pm/ 5:00-7:00 pm).

Nicosia: The birth and growth of a capital: Byzantine- Medieval Period

City: Nicosia
